I seldom join Looking at the Sky on Friday for one simple reason…I don’t have sky photos to share. All the while I thought I have exhausted all the photos in my file until I decided to go over one folder in my flickr account that has the most number of sky photos and found out that I still have tons that I haven’t shared.
The photo was taken November of last year when I and Ace joined the island hopping that was organized by one of his colleagues. It was one fine day and we spent the rest of the day in the boat going around Island Garden City of Samal or commonly called Samal Island, a part of Davao del Norte. Most of the island’s people are fisherfolks so one will find cluster of houses along the coastline.
P.S.
I should have cropped this photo to remove the portion of the boat (upper right corner) but I am too lazy to do that so just don’t mind that distraction. I know it ruined a beautiful landscape but just let it be that way.

A couple of days before the scheduled island hopping, Mindanao was under storm signal number one. It is the first time here in Davao City after 30 years. See, Davao is typhoon free but typhoon Tonyo hit Mindanao which includes Davao City. However, we only experienced the usual rainshowers everyday but seacrafts were not allowed to sail even to the nearby islands – Samal and Talicud. On Saturday, it rained and I am in doubt if the Island hopping will push thru. Since there’s no advise from the organizers that it will be postponed, we were at the drop off point in the old Sasa port early on Sunday morning. The weather over Davao City is fine with the sun shining above us but at the distance, Samal Island is covered with rain clouds. However, glad that it didn’t rain. I don’t know where did the rain clouds go but it was teeming hot while we are having our island hopping in Samal and the small islands nearby.
This is my first time to join in this blog. Happy Sky Watch! Join the fun here.
I don’t know. I still have a productive cough. Now I am convinced to take cough medicine but I chose the Lagundi tablet (Ascof). I wanted herbal meds than the synthetic ones so I religiously drink the medicine hoping that my cough will be cured after a couple of days. The island hopping motivates me to drink my meds as scheduled and will be cough-free before Sunday. I am crossing my fingers now because I don’t wanna miss the fun. It will be our first time to tour around Samal and the nearby islands much more that we have a DSLR now. It will be a very nice photo ops for us and will be using the photos in my upcoming travel blog. I am crossing my fingers now. I really hope we could go.
