I couldn’t sleep without lights before because Daddy and Mamang don’t put off all lights as we sleep. So I was used to that and it would be a nightmare to sleep at my grandparent’s or aunt’s house because they turn off all lights in their place. That would keep me awake all night with eyes wide open looking for some traces of light. But as I grow old, I am learning to love the dark when I sleep more so when I have read that sleeping under artificial lights expecially flourescent lights doesn’t give us the rest that we need. I am glad I have friendster account so I could connect to my friends both old and new, my childhood playmates, even my not-so-close schoolmates, not-so-close “kababayans”, former colleagues, including my Mamang’s students that became my high school schoolmates, my relatives, etc. Though I wanted to keep my account for my close friends or to the people I really know, I just don’t have the guts to decline their friend requests so I keep adding and adding people in my account that are of no significance to me. But another thing happened yesterday. I received a friend request from Carol’s classmate back in elementary or high school (I’m not so sure). I am about to approve the request when a voice was telling me to check the account first so I did. The moment I opened his account, I was shocked to see some of his friends’ primary photos naked. Yes, I mean N-A-K-E-D, explicitly showing the private parts. That was really gross! I don’t know if it’s their own photo but one thing is for sure, I don’t want those photos and I don’t want that kind of account be in my network so I declined sending him a message that I cannot approve his request because I don’t feel comfortable with those photos. Call me “old-maid”, old-fashioned, or whatever. I don’t really feel comfortable with those photos. I was even disappointed to see my sister Che-Che’s photos posing like a flirt and told her to delete it. I don’t know if she deleted those photos because I am not visiting her page anymore.
